This recently happened to me (slighty different circumstances) and it really sucks. I hope you can figure it out, try not to stress out over it (for me it was like my world ended). If you have a hard time finding out what the problem is, what I like to do is take a break, do something you enjoy and relax. When you come back to it, the answer might just pop up in your head.

Anyways, hope you can tackle it. I patiently await updates!
    ~Cheers

Well, I can tell you that it probably isn’t the power supply, though you probably had that figured out already, since it does power up. I had something similar happen to me, and I posted something on newegg.com’s support forum, and the tech geeks there were very helpful.

If you have another desktop computer at your disposal, it should be easy to check your hard drive: just pull it out and plug it into the other computer. You can make sure one of your sticks of RAM isn’t broken (if you have enough to be able to remove some) by testing each stick individually (unless it’s a system that requires paired RAM, in which case you’ll have to test pairs). My guess is that it’s the motherboard, but I’ve only been a hardware support person under the leadership of many other people, so I wouldn’t be shocked to be wrong.

I’m a hunter, so I really want you to get your computer fixed as soon as possible! I hope this helps.

I realize this will sound superstitious, but if you have a GeForce 8000-series video card, you may want to try replacing it first — every 8000-series card I have first-hand knowledge of has died in the last week. Intellectually, I know this is coincidence, but it’s kind of a freaky one. :-)

it might not necessarily be a coincidence. it might be some defect in all of them that wears out at the same rate.

have you tried casting Revive Pet?

Heart of the Phoenix must be on cooldown.

That sucks man, I hope you get your PC woes fixed. Best of luck!

Sadly I am a druid in game and not a hunter and so can’t think of many funny hunter related jokes. Maybe all the cables can have something to do with a snake trap, and Aspect of the Viper for the PC to get in touch with its inner snake and recharge its power… or something…

“Got progressively worse until it stopped responding”, huh?

Were you feeding it the right food?

Power Supply. I had the exact same problem.

I tried replacing the mobo, to no avail.
I spent the $20 on a PSU tester, and my 12v was wonky.
Replaced the PSU, all problems fixed.

Well, except that my widescreen won’t display…

Ok, I know this is about a half year late, and you’ve obviously fixed your computer, but I think I may have found a solution. I have had extensive meetings with Chromie and the keepers of time, who have allowed me to go back to May of 2010 to look at your ailing computer. Turns out that it’s not incorrect pet food, not a mishap with feign death, and it has nothing to do with aspect of the viper, because your computer appeared to have enough mana to survive at least another 6-7 months. The problem was that you had not upgraded your computer’s gear from tbc epics, so all the other hunters’ computers were laughing at your computer. I mean you and that odd guy named Walmarto from Echo Isles were the only two who were still using level 70 epic computer gear. Your computer simply died of embarrassment man, I’m sorry to have to break it to you this way. Chromie suggested I just went back in time and replaced all your level 70 epics with welfare level 80 epics to get your computer’s gear score up to a respectable level, but I told her that would screw with the timeline pretty hard and could bring an end to the world as we know it. We couldn’t live without more daily blink comics, I know that in my heart.

So, just a little note for cataclysm….UPDATE YOUR COMPUTER’S GEAR for Garrosh’s sake. Chromie touched me in an inappropriate way, so I don’t want to have to go back to her in 2 years and ask her to send me back to diagnose ANOTHER computer problem of yours, so please, PLEASE upgrade your computer’s epics….I beg you!
