I’m actually from Neptulon-EU and he didn’t get the Realm First 85 achievement. Someone in his guild did, however. People have been saying Blizzard took the achievement off him but don’t know if that is true. Either way his way of levelling is lazy and shouldn’t give him all this limelight, it’s what he wants
His way is lazy? he had to get all those people, and also had to plan and research the best way of doing it, making sure it was legal with blizzard. Im sure he spent a very long time prepairing just for this.
And thats way more work than most people would do even before the game was released.. and in the end it all probably took longer than lvling the regular way counting the hours he spent on working it all out.
He didn’t get the achivement because he transfered on the server to let the guild help him. If you transfer to a server you can’t get serverfirst achivements for 2 months. He earned the achivement and haters gonna hate/discuss because they don’t understand.
@Mewski: he didn’t get realm first because he transferred his character to that realm. it takes 2 months until a transferred character actually can compete for such achievements.
A European Guy – Do we really want to discuss all the posts there have been on the WoW forums from the EU players complaining about what the US gets/does first? The FACT is that he had a head-start in an expansion where nine-hours could get you your first two+ levels. Heck, mmo-champ was reporting on game-wide firsts before the US servers were even up.
Publicity.
Also he server transferred prior to the xpac and changed his name to Forscience and according to the rules of transfer, you cant have a “first” ach until after 60 days have passed. Blizz took nothing away, because nothing was actually achieved.
No server first = no world first. Not hate, just fact.
Cataclysm LVL 85 and Raid Progression
I didn’t cover the US and EU first level 85 characters when they happened 2 days ago, this is mostly because leveling in Cataclysm is fairly easy and the ranking mostly depended on what realms went up first.
…it’s pretty clear that now that we have near-final rankings for US and EU realms (thanks to WoWProgress), one character leveled much faster than the others: Forscience played by the lovely Athene. He posted a short video to explain how he did it…
Copy pasted from MMO-Champion for those who don’t believe he god world first – its officially conformed.
To all you haters talking shit, like my name states, go up against a merc glad and get your ass handed to you. He’s the world’s best pally noobies, you don’t just get that title by saying it…..you have to earn it, and that’s just what he did and can still do if he wanted to.
Atheneum always finds loopholes. The 9hr head start doesn’t bother me so long as you look at how long he took to get from 80-85 compared to the first on the US to get to 85. The shorter time if the two is the real world first, as they did it fastest and it removes the time-zone advantage.
I’m neither a fan nor hater of athene, but if he used the same tactic as he did in WotLK they need to roll him back again for exploiting…again. If he did not then idc how he did it . So long as no exploiting is involved, then he has my congrats.
While Forscience did get the world first technically, as he was the first in the world to hit level 85, he had a multiple hour head start against every US player (Servers were supposed to be up at 6pm EST but were down for about an hour, so got up at 7 [Though I heard he got on as the servers were supposed to go up, but I digress...] and the US servers came up at 3am the next day)
So that means that he got an 8-9 hour head start on US players.
““victory by starting 9 hours earlier”? hardly, his time spent leveling was way shorter than anyone’s in USA. Jealous much?”
Seems you missed the rest of the joke about him “tagging” sections of the marathon and letting others run it for him. Reading really can help you go far in life, I suggest you beg your mommy and daddy to help you learn.
Appropriate criticism. When I heard he got help from “the guild”, saw the shots of them pulling mobs for him to tag I immediately lost all care for this.
A true achievement is doing this alone or leveling as a group getting fair gains. The 9 hours head start even if there was no starting early from time zone crap, he and others did research for him hours-days before release, completing quests but not turning them in.
Blizzard actually nerfed xp gains in outdated zones due to people like him, read the blue post of those changes. He didn’t level purely off of cataclysm either.
He may have done a lot of planning, preparation and work for that, and /clap to him for that but still took advantage of what a lot of others wouldn’t have for one and not too much a big of deal, then the whole “for science” thing is a little awkward how it was squeezed in.
@Patrik
Saying that he isn’t lazy with the reasoning you provided is like a fat kid saying he gets a workout getting out of his computer chair and walking over to the fridge and back.
I do think Athene’s exploits are clever, and the last one certainly took time to organize, but at the same time I do agree that he is abusing the rules system and should not be awarded for that. No matter how one views the rules side though you do have to admit that Athene has about the biggest ego ever, and it’s impossible for me not to hate the guy for being a jackass.
You all seem to think this is a new exploit athene came up with, hell even he seem to think that, but if you remember when TBC was released this exact method was used to get first 70… so no its not new and no athene didn’t come up with it, he took a old idea someone els came up with and try to take the credit for it, and not even when tbc came whas this invented couse it had been used in vanilla before, maby not with 40+ people but with 10+…
and i think mmo-champion should catagorice worldfirsts and that stuff into “team effort” and “solo effort” couse well, for a solo person to compete vs an entire army is not realy a fair competition,
and my last note: don’t you people realize that athene is nothing but a troll? a troll who have taken his shit more than one step further than just trolling forums… but in the end of the day he is no more or less than a troll.
so people lets not fuel the fire please? and drop the discussion here, he didn’t even get the world first couse the achivement went to someone els, it dont realy mather if he was the first to actually get the level or not as it’s the achivement that counts
LOL@the A European Guy post. That’s about the most rediculous thing I’ve ever heard. If everyone started at the exact same moment as him, he wouldn’t have done it. The fact that he’s European isn’t the reason for his first, it’s the fact that he got a 9 hour head start. Basically, this tard was 85 before the expansion was even available in the states or Canada.
He also claims that this feat was for scientific research. I claim he’s full of crap and needs to pull his head out of his arse. I don’t see how Physics lead him to the discovery that if he tags a mob and someone else kills it, he gets the rewards. That’s basic wow knowledge. /endrant
Haters are funny. I’m no fan of Athene, but he took a lot of time in preparing for this; there is nothing lazy about optimization.
The method you all laugh at is available to anyone, you included. The head start did not help him; he took much less time to level than everyone else. He truly did came out ahead, no matter how cheap the method.
His goal was an advertising stunt, and seeing you all debate on it is proof enough that it worked.
You’re probably the same type of people who’ll complain about HOW lazily this and that person earned his billions, while you at least worked hard for your minimum salary. But in the end, you’re not the one with the 3 million dollar car and the blonde bimbo twins.
“Appropriate criticism. When I heard he got help from “the guild”, saw the shots of them pulling mobs for him to tag I immediately lost all care for this.

i’m pretty sure anybody going for a world first saved up 25 finished dailys to turn them in… it was all over cataclysm-leveling guides around the web
@kmita – as if anyone else didn’t do that. Multiple people in USA did, and they failed to beat his time. Being a dick won’t get you far in life, nor trying to boost your e-peen by making mindless comments. Haters gonna hate, and you’re gonna fail among the rest of them.
It’s funny how people complain about EU getting a patch/expansion before USA, while 99% of the patches are applied to USA servers first. gg, take your heads out of your asses.
Athene was the fastest person to hit 85, from when he started to when he finished. He beat everyone else to 85, and congrats to him.
But that doesn’t make him any less of an egotistical troll, and as such should mainly be ignored (and lol at all the fanboys and haters, calm down!)
To thedailyblink: This is probably the funniest one that I’ve seen so far, nice job!
9 hours headstart? who cares he still hast the lowest played-time to 85 “Appropriate criticism. I find it hilarious actually that people (that I assume are from Europe) make their own assumption that everyone who “hates” on Athene getting World First does it because the European servers opened first. It couldn’t be the illegitimate tactics or his attitude toward it or… anything else. It’s almost definitely that he’s European. Well played, guys.
UGhhh I hate him so much for this stupid Tag business. but nobody could have presented it in a better way than a marathon, damn genius.
keep up the awesome work =]
Lol
He didn’t get banned this time. Race to 85 check, become casual scrub for the rest of the xpac, priceless.
LOOOL haters x)
Wow, that is the funniest thing I have read all day! XD
lol
Well said
Made my day.
I’m sure he wouldn’t get ridiculed this way if he were an American and the US servers had come up first.
lol “scrub”, he got merc glad as well.. back when pvp didn’t suck
haters gonna hate
Haters gonna hate, always

So damn true, really. All these virtual trophies are just stupid anyway
@Mewski: You can’t get the Realm First Achievement if your character wasn’t created on that realm (means transferred from a different one)
Haters gonna hate, He’s European but most of all he’s a Belgian !
He makes me proud that i’m a belgian afterall
His way is lazy? he had to get all those people, and also had to plan and research the best way of doing it, making sure it was legal with blizzard. Im sure he spent a very long time prepairing just for this.

OMFG, funniest thing ever. Especially after that video he released.
@Mewski
He used an alt called “Forsience”. Wich he probably leveled to get quests that he had probably already completed by the end of WotLK.
It’s called a realm change. You can’t get server firsts for 2 months after you realm change.
fan boys will be fan boys
Athene FTW
“victory by starting 9 hours earlier”? hardly, his time spent leveling was way shorter than anyone’s in USA. Jealous much?
Taters gonna tate ^_^ funny nonetheless

Athene did score world first, his toon however was named Forscience, not athene.

Achievement robbery! No FIrst 85 Feat of Strength. Blizzard fails.
